There is something in the air at Renault that started to blow like a little breeze ad then turned into wind when it came out of the factory. A two-seat coupé-cabrio by the name of Renault Wind started turning heads whenever it passed by as soon as it hit the streets.

Like its name attribute suggests, it is a coupé-cabrio with a mechanism similar as the one in Ferrari 575. We can simply say that this mobile roof top is a first of its kind in this class. There is a stunning swiftness in maneuvering the roof in just 12 seconds. All you have to do is turn a handle above the driver’s seat, push a button on the dashboard and witness the time for your self. Interesting about the roof is that it doesn’t take any space in the boot which is 270 liter. With the roof of being just 22 kg, the car’s weight is brought to its minimum.

Renault Wind feed on speed with a 1.6 liter front engine capable of reaching maximum power of 133 bhp and a torque of 160Nm. It reaches 0-60 mph in just 9.2 seconds and its top speed is 125 mph. This engine produces an impressive noise from the exhaust pipe which can be too loud for the urban areas.

The gear box comes with a 5-sped manual; price tag is £17,300; spends 40.3mpg; and CO2 of 165g/km.

By the look of it, Renault gives the impression of an Opel Tigra, but don’t be fooled easily because it is a bit smaller. The body is mainly steel and it moves on alloy wheels 17 inches. Speed is punched with aluminum pedals; air conditioning installed and cruise control. Heater rear screen, and when talking about rear screen, let’s not forget to mention as small negative abut it – a low visibility to the back of the car by the gauze wind deflector. For the smooth driving experience and mood there is a CD player that goes with an iPod connection.

Now what does this car attribute to the word “special”? Most of all is the way it is driven on curbs; smooth and precise turning with less weight as it can. Being a 2 seated car can be a bit of a problem if you have more then just one friend to go to the beach. But let’s presume that it is you and your girlfriend that are cruising down to the beach and your friends are already there to drop their jaws when they see the Renault Wind.

Also a great thing about the Renault Wind and what gets people talk about every time its name is mentioned, is the roof top. Every one that has a coupé-cabrio in its possession often encounters rain along the way. So a fast maneuvering roof top is essential. A time of 12 seconds is quite fast to protect yourself and everything else in the car from the rain.

The Renault Wind although looks like a sports car, it is not meant to be one. It is simply a stylish car with a look that makes people turn their heads when it passes by and occasionally drop their jaws.
